First of all I want you to meet Billy!
We have known each other since high school, Billy's ability to fish and catch fish even when no one else is hooking up is amazing, I think that he uses a mental telepathy to speak to the fish. Billy has fished all over the North West covering areas such as Alaska, Canada, Washington, and Oregon. Billy has kept fishing logs dating back to the high school days and he has the ability to tell you on any specific fishing trip what the weather was how cold the water temp was and how many fish he caught. Billy had been a gear guy only fishing with spinners that he made in his home until about the 6th trip out with me, I noticed a fly rod in the back of the truck and asked if I could give it a try, well within a few short casts and the guidance from Bill I was hooked up. Both Bill and I have cobwebs on our spinning gear now as we've gone to fly fishing. Billy's water name is " Wartack"

Myrna has just began to fly fish, She took Spey casting lessons from Steve Light and has not looked back. Myrna has fly fished the Cooked River, The Alsey and the Deschutes Rivers and has on her first time out hooked two steel head. Myrna also likes to tie her own flies and will only fish on the nice days, this is a good thing too it gives the fish a chance to relax on cold day's knowing that the flies in the water are not attached to her rod. Myrna's water name is " Sunshine " |

Now I have fished all over as well, Oregon, Mexico, Canada, Washington. Thanks to Bill & Myrna I have had some of the best fishing trips ever, I have also taken up the art of "Spey" casting and love the feel of a steel head trying to rip the rod from my hand as the fly swings through the water. On one particular trip with Steve Light from the Riffle fly shop we had a three day bonanza of steel head fishing. Steve is awesome at helping client's read water and place a fly in the hot zone. I hooked 16 steel head and landed 13. The confidence that I gained from the trip was well worth the money. My water name is " Simms". |

| Wartack and I went to a couple of river in the valley last fall and this spring. We started off on the Rouge River in Shady Cove and spent the night at John & Trishes, great folks and great food. We did not have much luck on the Rouge the river was high and a bit off color. Wartack still hooked into a couple of nice chrome metal heads and then released them, after about a day and a half we drove over to the beautiful North Umpqua , Billy had never fished there so I taught that I would show him some of the holes that have made this river so famous. The weather was awesome but was not holding many fish at the time. |

| Wartack and I decided to head to Crane Prairie to do a little bass fishing, The weather was a bit on the cold side as a front was moving in. We waded into and area that we have caught several fish, it is early and the water temp is still on the chilly side about 48 degrees. We caught and released 4 fish this day with the largest being the female that you see below, Bill and I are going back when it warms up so keep an eye on this page because in these waters there be MONSTERS! |

Well the Salmon flies are here and so is great trout fishing, This is my Friend Ken, I received the call from Ken to do a drift from Warm Springs to Trout Creek, That was all that I needed to hear and we were off. At 5:30am we were at the boat ramp and on our way, Now I have been fishing for a while but have never seen what I was about to see, Ken was above me when he yells out Fish On! and about two minuets later it was oh he got off. Ken retrieved his line only to find that the fish had taken his fly.. Ken then re rigged casted out and yelled Fish On again, This time he was able to land the fish and what a trophy 20 something inch white fish and low and behold the same fish that took his fly was laying on the bank with the unauthorized stolen fly from the cast before. We fished the hole day taking fish on top water as well as nymphing. The weather was great 79 to 82 degrees with a slight wind, the water was 52 degrees. |

| Well Ken called again but this time Sunshine was going with us,, As usual she out fished the boat... This was Myrna's first time on the dry flies and was not sure about how the fish would take the fly, she soon found out how the fish crush the fly and run for fact on her first one she grabbed the fly line and snapped it off ( oops ) I have done this myself in the heat of battle, but after that she was on point and hooking them all! The weather was in the high 70's to low 80's with a nice breeze keeping things cooler the water temp was 54 degrees. It was an awesome trip all thanks to ken. |
![]() Leave it to Sunshine to be hooked up on the first run, it was a beautiful Red side! |

| Myrna had won a trip from the Riffle fly shop so we took it in October, our guide was Matt Carter, Matt was feeling under the weather on this day but put that aside to give us one of the best trips yet, The Riffle puts on a hell of a lunch ( unlike other fly shops ) Having a boat of my own Carter was a little weary of showing me some spots, I can understand that and respect that it is his bread and butter. We did however fish several of his spots and had a couple of chances but was not able to capitalize on the chances. All in all we had an awesome day spent time with an awesome guide and made a friend. Thanks again Matt. P.S. Your secret spots are safe with me. |

I Matt put Myrna on Three fish for the day, he took great care and time to assist her in finding the fish,, This guide is awesome.

| This week Billy and I drove to the Grand Ronde to meet Tim Etlick a buddy from Colorado, The trip was awesome, the drive was spectacular as we drove through the town of Troy, we stopped at Bogan's oasis where we picked up our licenses and Billy paid $14.00 for a half rack of Keystone light ( note don't forget the beer) next we met up with Tim and tumbleweed as we geared up we spoke to Tim's mom and dad who came down from Vancouver, Wa. once we were in the water it took only a few short minuets to have fish on, The weather was great as rain came and went. temps stayed in the mid 40's to 50's over the next day we hooked and landed a few fish and had several boil on the surface but were not commit to the game. |
![]() Tim had this fish come to the surface but would not take, I ran a skater through the hole and bam he was on! |

| October 28th, 2007 Billy and I took a float down the Deschutes River to knock on some doors, Steel head doors that is. Wartacks first fish came when it was still 27 degrees outside, the water temp was 52 degrees. we had just settled into our rhythm when bill yelled holly s#%t fish on. At first he told me that he reeled the fish right up to his feet and thought that it was a trout but then as the fish got a whiff of wartacks musty feet she fled the scene, with spectacular leaps of strength. His second fish came shortly after we had sipped some Pendleton whiskey to warm back up.... Anyway his next fish was just in front of a bolder patch above a great riffle. This fish was on fire, he slammed the fly with conviction and hate, this fish did not want the fly in his area. |
![]() Billy hooked up again, this is one way to warm up!

October 29th, 2007 Well lets see Beautiful day ( sunny until about 3:00 then rain) Temp 45 degrees and water temp 50 degrees a perfect day from God, but on this day only Norm would be blessed as Kenny and I worked on casting practice Norm hooked and landed Three hot fish, There is no doubt when a steel head is on the take and no doubt when a fight is imminent. If you have not had a chance to fight one of these fish give me a call and lets see if we can get you on a short stick with a long line. on this day my hat is off to norm for schooling Ken and I on how it's done. |
![]() Ken was on point with his casting, but the fish were not on the take with his presented flies. |
![]() Now storm-in- Norman was the schooler of the day catching three for the day. |

| December 8, 2007 Wartack and I took the day and headed out to the lower "D" as we drove towards the boat ramp at 6:00 am we began to ponder what the heck we were doing. snow was falling not down but side ways because the wind was blowing so hard it would grab the boat and fish tail us in to the on coming lane. Shortly after fishing the first hole the snow and wind quit the sun came out and the bight was on. The water was high and clear and still at 48 degrees. What a day it was. hooking 7 and landing 3. We had also missed several other fish that we could not tell so they do not count. But all in all a great day to be on the water sharing a few beers, laughs and bs stories. |
![]() Here is a mug shot of a Steel Head that we caught on the Deschutes River on December 8th, 2007.

![]() Wartack was on the hunt here is a Buck that kicked his butt, we had a beer after this fish was landed.
